Scotland’s most famous lake is soon to be home to a wind farm. Scottish energy supplier SSE is planning to install 67 turbines close to Loch Ness in the Highlands. The Stronelairg wind farm should have a combined capacity of 250 megawatts.
There have been protests against the project, with opponents fearing that the turbines will spoil the scenery and put tourists off. SSE compromised on its original plan for 83 turbines and will install the agreed 67 in such a way that they cannot be seen from the lake.
